Upgraded to Minecraft 1.3

And Bukkit too. We also upgraded a slew of plugins, so everything is (mostly) back to normal. There are a few glitches here and there, but most people won't notice them. I'm hoping the chunk-load error (ie "beta-holes") are gone, but I didn't explore around to check that.

So, enjoy the new MC features, and keep building awesome stuff!

It's grief time!

We're waiting for a Bukkit update, which means that it's grief time! Grief all you want until the next update comes out.

How come it never goes smooth? Ever?

So we hit some difficulties. Basically, I screwed some stuff up, and neither dflemstr nor I caught it before things got REALLY screwed up. So, it's taking longer than we hoped. But we are working on it.

The worst case scenario (that we're desperately trying to avoid) is that we roll back to Friday. If that happens, so very many apologies.

EDIT: Nvm, WCS avoided. Still taking a while though...

Server back up!

We are now running on extremely powerful hardware, thanks to contributions from the community. We might have to do some more maintenance soon to fine-tune a few things, but as it stands, we are blazing ahead on this platform! We should be at least 4 times as performant as before. As a result of this, we will try to push the player cap to 50, and re-enable the Nether. If this setup remains stable, then it will stay that way.

Server Down for Upgrades

I'm swapping the machine running the MC server. It's going to take a while, and I'm not sure how long. I need to back up the HDD, switch things over, and test. I'll let y'all know when we're back up and running.

The Wonder of Region Claim

Yesterday I had decided to destroy the house I had just spent the past week fixing. Some players came over to watch this happen. My first attempt at destroying this house was to set it on fire though I had my doubts if fire would spread. Regardless of how much fire I set all around the house, nothing would burn. I feel rather thankful to see this than disappointed I couldn't burn this house down. Then a player suggested I use TNT to destroy the house. I filled a line of TNT all the way through the entire house, every floor, then I quickly started the first block and ran across the road.

Server Temporarily Down

Overheating caused it to crash. I'm waiting for it to cool down before starting it up again.

Your patience is appreciated.

EDIT: Back up. Had to roll back the map again, as the crash corrupted the world.

New Map

As most may have noticed by now, we have launched our new map. As of the 6th of February, our main IP now directly logs on to the new map. For the past few weeks we have been testing out plugins and map ideas that are implemented onto this map. We have many wonderful new and alternative commands the players can use. Skilled and higher ranks are able to protect their land by claiming it with /region claim <placename>. There is a street system near spawn so players now have addresses if they choose to claim area within the urban spawn area.

Two major (but hopefully fixed) issues.

The first one was that my router crashed and crashed hard. I switched (yet again) to an entirely different brand. Hopefully this one will last, and cut down on the disconnect issues.

The second is that the map crashed and crashed hard. There were major chunk errors so bad that I had to roll back the server about half an hour in order to get it to load. If you lost progress, sorry.

Bukkit, Coming Sunday

I know I said that hopefully everything would have been ready on Thursday. A few technical issues and some configuration aspects that weren't quite ready prevented that from happening. For that I apologize.
